Elaine Collins

Therapeutic Counsellor

Supporting adults and young people to better understand their emotions, relationships and life experiences.

Elaine offers a warm, empathic and supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement. Using a person-centred and integrative approach, she works collaboratively with each person, helping them understand themselves, make sense of life’s challenges and move forward at a pace that feels right.

Who does Elaine support?

Elaine works with adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck or emotionally exhausted. Many are balancing the demands of midlife, appearing to cope on the outside while feeling very different underneath. She has particular experience supporting men who may quietly carry the pressures of work, family responsibilities and unspoken expectations without having a space where they feel able to talk openly.

Elaine also specialises in working with young people aged 11+. Having spent over 30 years working in education, she understands the pressures young people can face, including anxiety, friendship difficulties, low self-esteem, school pressures and bereavement. When talking feels difficult, Elaine may use games, sand tray work and conversation cards to help young people communicate in ways that feel safe and comfortable.

How Elaine works

Elaine’s practice is neuro-affirming, providing a space where clients can be themselves without judgement or the need to mask. Together, they explore how the client thinks, feels and experiences the world, developing greater understanding and practical ways of managing life that feel realistic and authentic.

Alongside her professional experience, Elaine has personal insight into supporting close family members with ADHD. This has deepened her understanding of neurodiversity within family life, including both its strengths and everyday challenges.

Elaine believes that feeling genuinely heard and understood can be a powerful catalyst for change. She tailors therapy to each client’s individual needs, helping them develop self-awareness, clarity and confidence.
