Counselling and therapy for Adults

Counselling and talking therapy can help with issues like depression and anxiety. We offer individual counselling here in Harrogate and the surrounding area. Our therapists are professionally trained and registered and here to support you.

Which therapy is best for me?

There are many different therapies. Our therapist will help you choose the one that is best suited to you and be most helpful in resolving your issue.

Some of the main types of therapy are:

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy – the therapist will encourage you to say whatever is going through your mind. This will help you become aware of patterns in what you do or say that may be contributing to your problems.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) – explores how your thoughts and beliefs may be causing emotional problems. Your therapist will support you in developing more helpful ways of thinking to overcome your problems.

Humanistic therapies – encourage you to explore how you think about yourself and recognise your strengths. The aim is to help you think about yourself more positively and improve your self-awareness.

I wish I had started these sessions many years ago. I have recommended the krysallis team to four of my friends and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of seeking support

By talking to a counsellor or therapist, you can look deeper into problems, worries, habits, behaviours and addictions. It can be an effective way to get support for a wide range of mental health issues too.

We’ll work with you to help you gain a better understanding of what’s troubling you. Through individual therapy you’ll be guided to work out new ways of approaching situations that you find difficult. We’ll also suggest new methods to help you cope and feel better prepared.

We offer daytime and evening sessions, and Saturdays, lasting an hour, usually. We start with an assessment session, to agree and plan a way forward. As a guide, people usually meet their therapist once a week, for several months. What’s really important is that you develop a trusting relationship with your therapist. So being flexible about how many sessions that make take is helpful.

Contact us and we’ll put you in touch with one of our therapists, to arrange your first session. We’ll match you to the person who best meets your needs and preferences. Alternatively you can have a free, brief chat with a therapist before booking.
