How Jenny works

Jenny is a Level 5 pluralistic counsellor who works integratively, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy techniques.

By bringing together elements of these different approaches, Jenny can adapt counselling to each person’s needs, experiences and way of communicating rather than working in one fixed way.

When supporting children and teenagers, Jenny uses play, art and drama to build a trusting relationship and create a space in which they can feel safe and confident exploring their feelings.

Professional background

Jenny originally trained as a primary school teacher and has experience working across a range of primary and secondary schools.

She currently delivers counselling within a school as a Place2Be School Project Manager, acting as a link between the Place2Be team, school staff and pupils. Being fully embedded within the school community gives Jenny a detailed, practical understanding of how schools work and the systems surrounding children and their families.

Jenny also volunteers with a local hospice, supporting bereaved children.

Works with: Children aged 5+, Teens and Adults
