Alex Bailey
Integrative Psychotherapist
Helping older teens and adults better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges and create lasting change.
Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck in familiar patterns, overwhelmed by difficult emotions, struggling in relationships, or disconnected from themselves. Sometimes there is a clear reason for these difficulties and sometimes there isn’t, but they can leave us feeling exhausted, confused and unsure how to move forward.
Alex offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences, gain deeper self-understanding and create meaningful change.

How Alex works
Alex works integratively, tailoring therapy to the individual needs of each client. She believes the therapeutic relationship is central to the process and creates a safe, collaborative environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences openly.
Her work is informed by Person-Centred and Trauma-Informed practice, alongside influences from Gestalt therapy, somatic approaches and CBT-based techniques where appropriate. Alex helps clients develop greater self-awareness and understanding, supporting them to make sense of both present difficulties and the deeper patterns that may be influencing their lives.
Professional background
Alex holds a BSc in Counselling Psychology and an MA in Integrative Counselling. Alongside her core psychotherapy training, she has completed additional diplomas in CBT, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Understanding Eating Disorders, Grief and Bereavement, Psychological Trauma-Informed Practice, and Detachment Theory, an approach that focuses on remaining empathetic, emotionally attuned and self-aware whilst staying grounded. She has also completed Level 2 training in Self-Harm and Suicide Awareness and Prevention.
Alongside her private practice, Alex works as a Harassment and Misconduct Advisor at the University of Leeds. This role has given her extensive experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour, sexual misconduct, stalking, harassment and honour-based abuse.
Drawing on both her therapeutic and professional experience, Alex works sensitively with clients who have experienced trauma, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, sexual assault, relationship difficulties and the lasting impact of harmful or abusive experiences.

Personal insight
Outside of therapy, Alex loves animals and values spending time with the people closest to her. As an older sister, relationships and connection are especially important to her. She is also a huge Marvel fan and appreciates the themes of resilience, identity and personal growth that often run through those stories.
