Adult Counselling
Counselling and therapy for Adults
At Krysallis, we provide professional counselling, psychotherapy and psychological support for adults across Harrogate and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, low self-esteem or simply feeling overwhelmed, we’re here to help you find the right support.
Our experienced Referral and Assessment Team will take the time to understand what’s been happening, talk you through the different services we offer and arrange an initial assessment. From there, we’ll recommend the therapist and therapeutic approach that best suits your needs, goals and preferences.
Which type of therapy is right for me?
There isn’t a single type of therapy that’s right for everyone. Following your assessment, we’ll recommend the therapeutic approach and practitioner we feel are the best fit for your individual circumstances.
Some of the approaches available through Krysallis include:
Counselling and Psychotherapy – A safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, helping you develop greater self-understanding, emotional resilience and practical ways of moving forward.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Helps you understand how thoughts, feelings and behaviours are connected, developing practical strategies to manage anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) – A structured, evidence-based therapy that can be particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, distressing memories, anxiety and other experiences that continue to have a lasting emotional impact.
Psychological Therapy – Our psychologists use evidence-based assessment and therapeutic approaches to help with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties, tailoring support to your individual needs.
Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Therapy – Explores how past experiences and unconscious patterns may be influencing your current thoughts, feelings and relationships.
Humanistic and Integrative Therapy – Offers a collaborative, supportive space to explore your experiences, build self-awareness and develop confidence in moving forward.
Our practitioners also draw upon a range of other evidence-informed approaches depending on your individual needs and goals. During your assessment, we’ll discuss your circumstances and recommend the therapist and approach most likely to help.
“I wish I had started these sessions many years ago. I have recommended the Krysallis team to four of my friends and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of seeking support.”
Talking with a qualified therapist can help you better understand your thoughts, emotions and experiences. Therapy provides a safe, confidential space to explore whatever is troubling you, whether that’s a specific life event or something you’ve been carrying for many years.
Together, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the challenges you’re facing while developing practical strategies to improve your wellbeing, strengthen resilience and create lasting positive change.
We offer daytime, evening and some Saturday appointments, both in person and online. Therapy usually begins with a comprehensive assessment, allowing us to understand your needs and recommend the most appropriate therapist and therapeutic approach. Many people choose to attend weekly sessions initially, although the frequency and duration of therapy are always tailored to your individual circumstances and goals.
If you’re unsure where to start, contact our Referral and Assessment Team for a confidential conversation. We’ll explain the services available, answer any questions you may have and arrange an assessment, helping you take the first step towards finding the right support.
